Hello July!
July is one of my favorite months because it’s my birthday month and I love the Summer time! I’ll be 30 this year 😊
June was a GREAT month for me financially and I’m so, so grateful for all the good things happening and progress I am making.
General $ Updates
I maxed out my Roth IRA!
Yay!! Big goal achieved and early on in the year! This is only my second time ever maxing out my Roth IRA.
I wanted to max it out asap so my money is in the market longer AND so I can move on to focusing on my next goal (my emergency fund). I am continuing to invest in my 401(k) and a little bit to my brokerage!
I moved $45 from my student loan debt savings to my emergency fund
In June my student loan savings surpassed $36K by about $45. I only need the $36K so I transferred it to my emergency fund!
I opened another checking account (Fifth Third bank)
I received a promo in the mail for Fifth Third bank where I could open a checking account, direct deposit $3,000 within 90 days, and I get $450. Y’all know I’m a sucker for these promos so I’m excited for that bonus!
I increased my 401(k) contribution to 10%
After maxing out my Roth IRA I decided I felt comfortable bumping my 401(k) contribution from 6% to 10%. My company matches 6%.
I received a $3K refund from my apartment
I was expecting to receive my apartment deposit check refund, but I wasn’t expecting to see $3,000 when I opened the check!! I called them right away and said I didn’t think it was right, but they said it was correct. She even asked the manager to confirm and she said so as well.
I’m taking it as a blessing and of course I just put it in my savings anyway. If I do end up having to pay it back I’ll have the money there.
Spending

Some main things to point out about my spending in June:
Brokerage: I didn’t budget for this initially, but I received about $200 in direct support so I decided to invest it in my brokerage! This all is invested in VGT.
Household: This includes light bulbs, water filters, a cutting board, and a lamp for my office.
Car Emissions/Registration: I typically go do these in July (last minute), but I definitely need to give myself a few weeks and get it done in June from now on.
Personal: This was literally all underwear lol
