Happy December!!

In November my money mindset was a lot better than it was in October.

I do still obsess about finances just about every day, but it wasn’t as negative. I think this is because I was busier and I have a lot more to look forward to financially and with my business.

Here are all the money updates for November:

Debt

I started the month of November with $43,732.03 of debt and ended with $42,464.54.

I hit ANOTHER milestone in November by getting under $43K of total debt! In November my debt decreased by $1,267.49 and I paid $26.06 in interest.

Since my student loans are in forbearance, all this money went to my car loan.

My car loan balance.

Spending

Some main things to point out about my spending in November:

Groceries/Food out: I went over budget by $52.12. Toward the end of November I ended up purchasing some protein drinks for $55 since they were on sale.

Health: I went over budget by $7.72 because I purchased B-12.

Business: I was WAY over budget on business expenses because I completely forgot I had to renew my annual Teachable plan (which is where I hold my courses). Teachable cost me $348. I also purchased 2 domain names and had someone help with my logo.

Notebook: I purchased a bullet journal for $14.35 which will be my journal and planner for 2021. Not planned for November but it was planned for my No Spend Year!

Income

I made a bit less of extra income in November, but I’m always grateful! My extra income is used to reinvest back into my businesses or to pay off debt.

Full-time job (microbiologist): $4,937
Mediavine (display ads on LivinglikeLeila): $229.17
Google AdSense (ad revenue from YouTube): $130.16
Teachable (my courses): $29.35
Bank of America Cash back: $32.16

Pre-tax total = $5,357.84

Net Worth

As of November 30th, my net worth came to -$27,679.83.

Roth IRA = $4,699.80 ($600 higher than last month!!)

Sinking Funds:

  • Taxes = $1,808.39
  • Emergency Savings = $3,569.01
  • Gifts = $100.58
  • Medical/Dental = $151.22
  • Car maintenance = $235.38
  • Travel = $70.98
  • Personal spending = $50.02
  • FinCon = $75.03

Credit Score

My VantageScore according to Credit Karma is 765.

Overall Updates

I am now under $43,000 of total debt!

From the beginning (June 2018), I’ve paid off 48.3% of my debt.

I got approved for a new credit card

I’ve been credit card debt free for awhile and only use them for cash back/points. I never have revolving debt and it’s a goal of mine to take advantage of credit cards as much as I can.

I saw that Chase was offering a $200 cash bonus after spending $500 in 3 months with their Freedom Flex card. They are also offering 5% cash back on groceries for the first year and there is no annual fee! This offer is still active.

This card has some amazing perks and I knew I would need to spend $500 anyway. I should be getting over $200 in December now 🙂

November Goals Update

  • Pay off $1,400+ of my car loan – Close, but not quite. I was supposed to be reimbursed for $139 in November but it ended up taking longer. I paid off $1,267 though.
  • Spend less than $325 on food/groceries – I went over budget by about $52.
  • Get my new blog/business (Debt Over It) all set for 2021 – For the most part yes. I am also working on a debt course and I need to do more work on that.

Money Goals for December

  • Pay off $1,500+ of my car loan
  • Spend less than $325 on food/groceries
  • Find 2-3 paying finance coaching clients
